Consulting for lens cleaning systems by ultrasound

The ATCP has provided consulting for a multinational industry of Manaus Free Trade Zone with the objective of increase the service life and reduce maintenance costs of ultrasonic cleaning systems. In case, the ultrasonic cleaning systems are used in manufacturing spectacle lenses and is one of the major elements of the production line.
The consulting consisted in discuss the critical points of ultrasonic cleaning, and training maintenance personnel in predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance procedures. The results were very positive and are already saving time and resources for the client.
On June, 15, a unit of the Sonelastic® equipment was installed at the Support Department of a large company from the sector of energy generation.
The Sonelastic® will be used in nondestructive characterization of elastic moduli (Young, shear and Poisson's ratio) and damping of concrete and cementitious materials for the construction of pillars and foundations of wind turbines.
The equipment will also determine the speed of sound propagation for longitudinal waves (Vp / P-waves) and shear wave (Vs / S-waves).
The ATCP has provided a TRZ Horn Analyzer® for a major manufacturer of mattresses and pocket springs. The TRZ Horn Analyzer® will be used in predictive, corrective and preventive maintenance of ultrasonic welding systems employed in machines that manufacture and package the springs.
During the manufacturing process, sometimes, the spring escapes of the "pocket" and be pressed by the ultrasonic system at the time of welding, which kneads and damage the face of the sonotrode. This damage alters the operating frequency of the equipment and must be corrected.
The TRZ Horn Analyzer® also will be used in recovery of transducers and the manufacturing of the new sonotrodes, as well as in preventive maintenance.
Pocket springs manufacturers face serious problems with the reproducibility and reliability of ultrasonic welding systems of the machines to manufacture and bagging springs. In this context the TRZ Horn Analyzer® is valuable because it provides greater control and understanding of the user about the state of ultrasonic welding systems.
The ATCP has provided specialized services for the automotive industry with a view to damping vibrations in cars using piezoelectric elements tuned. The services consisted of the dimensioning and fixing of piezoelectric elements and the calculation and development of synthetic inductors for high inductances (> 1 Henry). Obs.: synthetic inductors are electric circuits.
The position for fixing the piezoelectric elements was determined by the customer as a function of vibration modes that wanted to mitigate and through simulation by the finite element (FEM). The simulations were refined with the characterization of the modules of elasticity (Young's modulus, shear and Poisson's ratio) of the materials involved by using the Sonelastic® Solutions.
The damping provided by the piezoelectric elements was characterized by modal analysis and was superior to that obtained with only passive elements.
In March the TRZ Horn Analyzer was exported to Thailand. The client is an American multinational manufacturer of high-tech lenses for glasses.
The TRZ will be used in predictive and corrective maintenance of ultrasonic cleaning systems. The equipment was delivered with the Software for a graphical interface via computer and to record test results.
Sonelastic applied to the fibercement industry

The ATCP provided characterization services of elastic moduli and damping of fibercement for a major multinational construction industry. To carry out the characterizations was used Sonelastic®.
The characterizations allowed to conduct a study on the influence at the composite of cement matrix, with a small number of samples, since the tests are non-destructive and can be repeated with the same sample in different humidity conditions.
The fibercement is a alternative to the use of asbestos, which had its marketing and use limited due to health risks that this product generates throughout its supply chain.
